Vintage Vibes and a Deceptive Headband | Hannah x Noelle

Outfit: Beige dress, navy cardigan, tan floppy hat attached to a headband, dark lipstick, lavender hair, brown spectator shoes

Believe it or not, this is not a hat on my head! What this actually is, is a nifty style of headwear that’s a hat attached to a headband. Noelle graciously lent it to me to style and boy did I have fun!

I wore this outfit during my purple hair days in the winter but I’d like to think it can transcend seasons. That’s what’s so good about vintage.. among a million other things.

I’ve worn this dress before in an outfit that was also a nod to the past so I guess it’s just getting typecasted. And if you’re confused about my dress looking like a top and skirt, well, it’s just another illusion in my outfit.

To style it this time around I added a shrunken navy colored cardigan and the cutest feminine spectator shoes. To me, it feels like a way to wear vintage everyday without being over the top or in your face. In fact, if I removed this hat, you probably would mistake this outfit for something modern! (None of it’s actually vintage, so there’s another fun fact about this look.)

I’m so glad I got to take this headband/hat for a whirl. My head is actually too small to fit traditional hats so this technology is kind of blowing my mind. Just in case any of you have a hard to fit noggin, definitely try to track something like this down!

Thanks, Noelle, for sending this beauty along and challenging me to add a little bit of glamour to my everyday outfits. :)

Perfect Purple Punch | Justine x Emily

There is nothing like a patterned cardigan to spice up an otherwise plain outfit!

Emily's Cardigan The Thrifty Girl's Guide 2

I was lucky enough to have the chance to try out Emily’s adorable purple Coldwater Creek cardigan. It added the perfect patterned punch to my lace top, navy pleated skirt and booties.

Finding cardigans that a) are long enough for my arms and b) don’t hit my waist at an awkward place are more difficult to find than I’d like to admit. But I love the way this cardi fits! I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for Coldwater Creek clothing when I’m thrift shopping!

Beige Waterfall Cardigan For Fall | Hannah x Lyndsey

I’ve never met a cardigan I didn’t like, so when Lyndsey sent me this beige waterfall cardigan, it was love at first sight.

I’ve always felt a connection with waterfall cardigans, I just never have a clue how to wear them to match my personal style!

If you’re confused about what the heck a waterfall cardigan is (does it contain real water?) allow me to explain: a waterfall cardigan is like a regular cardigan except it’s got a bunch of extra fabric in the front that hangs like a waterfall.

Rest assured you will stay dry if you wear one!

Now onto my outfit! I scoured my inspiration sources (ie: Pinterest) and felt myself drawn to layered looks. Seems simple enough, right? Well, my pile of discarded clothes scattered all over my room tells a different story.

After a battle with my closet, I came out victorious with this look. I started with a neutral base of head-to-toe black. I try not to wear too much dark colors but the time called for it.

Starting with such basics made it super easy to layer a bunch of stuff on top. Layers = awesome for fall weather. My layers in question were the waterfall cardigan and one of my favorite thrifted, floral blazers. (Can it really be called a blazer, though, if it doesn’t actually have buttons and I’m not wearing it in an office?)

I’m pretty obsessed with how this turned out and am crossing my fingers that an event will pop up in the future that I can wear it to. It would look great at a concert or somewhere artsy, right?

(Psst! There is no “How They Wore It” for this cardigan because I’m the first, but hopefully not last, to try it out.)hannah
